About

What is “Call of the Vedas”?

Call of the Vedas is a website exploring how the Vedas apply in our daily lives.

But wait a minute — what are the Vedas?

The Vedas are limited expressions of the inexpressible bliss of experiencing one’s own self. This bliss is absolute and entirely selfless. Ordinary folks like you and me undertook and succeeded in purifying their minds in a well-disciplined way, eliminating the pulls of desire, anger, delusion, greed, pride and jealousy, and experienced this bliss born of selfless Love.

The language of the Vedas is the language of the heart. Not the physical heart, but hrudayam as it is described in Sanskrit, Hrudayam means “seat of love” (from hrud, “seat” + daya, “love”).

Vedas were sung in a language called “chandas”, passed from teacher to student through the medium of listening. They were so immense that they were arranged in four different groups to facilitate learning. These groups formed what we now know as the four Vedas – rig, yajur, sama, atharvana.

The Vedas teach us how to do an action (any action), how to strengthen wisdom and how to experience the divinity innate in everything. They describe beautifully who we really are. They explain with clarity and authority born of personal experience the relationship between God, Nature and Man. They describe the Knowledge, knowing which nothing else remains to be known.

The Vedas are the spiritual backbone of all religions known to man.

So what does “Call of the Vedas” mean?

The Call of the Vedas is simply the call of one’s own conscience, the call within each one of us to conduct ourselves on the values of truth, righteousness, love, peace and non-violence. The call of the Vedas is simply the prayer for the wellbeing of all, in every nook and corner of the world, in the recesses of one’s mind and in the whole universe itself.

What does this website do?

This website explores how the divine can be seen in the mundane. How the ancient is present in the modern. How we can all use the Vedas to inform our daily lives and live happily on this Earth.

I have a comment, idea for a post, or question. How can I tell you about it?

  1. Namaskaram Dr. Krishnaswami Anna,
    So,
This sounds like we can ask questions to find the ways to solve some challenges in our lives and in future we can still refer back on how to apply those vedic ways? Namaskaram.
